Wannabe Twins – The Ordinary Moments

Growing up my Mum always dressed us the same, 3 little girls all in identical clothes. People used to always stop in the street to comment how lovely we looked or how cute we were. As we got older we found our own style.  However, I remember my sister living away for a while for work but when she would come home we would often have purchased the same items of clothing. It’s funny, sometimes me and my youngest sister (who also has a little one) discover that we have bought the same dresses for our girls, and instead of having 2 matching we have 3.

There is nothing I love more than seeing little sisters dressed the same, so when Harri was born I was delighted that I would be able to get the girls the same clothes. Now they don’t have all the same clothes and they are both very particular about what they wear, they do however have very similar taste and I tend to buy the same outfits for special occasions.  They are obviously a bit older now and if they didn’t want to wear the same then that would be fine – I wouldn’t force them.  Fortunately, they love wearing the same and they do look so adorable.

I know this wont last forever,  I know when they get older, like me and my sisters, they will find their own style. There will come a time, sooner than I like to think, when I wont get a say in what they wear (I fear it’s already starting), when Meme wont want to dress the same as her younger sister and when Harri will want to look like her friends instead of her older sister.

So for now, whilst I can, I am going to cherish dressing them the same, buying matching outfits whilst they enjoy looking like each other, just like me and my sisters.

  1. I love dressing my twins the same but already they want to choose their own so I’m glad I capitalised when they were babies! It is cute x

  2. Aw I love this post lovely because I feel exactly the same. My girls have a lot of similar clothes, and a few identical clothes, but I do put a real effort into trying to match them in similar colours but still in their own style. Mr E often asks me why I bother but I just really enjoy doing it. I am not sure how I am going to match a little boy though, I think that is going to be more of a challenge! But I agree, I love it when I see my girls in the same outfit. My sister is ten years younger than me and sometimes we will even have bought the same outfit! x

  3. I think it’s so cute when they dress the same. I don’t think anyone starts off like that – the younger (mainly) sibling normally wants to look like the older one, so on it continues.

I always buy matching outfits for my two goddaughters but am finding it harder now they are 9 and 5 as shops don’t stick the same things in both age ranges. Gutted! Especially when it comes to marching Christmas jumpers! Lol xx
