Blogging Goals #3

Blogging Goals #3

I wrote my last blogging goals in July so I am long overdue an update but, to be honest, I don’t have much to update on! Don’t get me wrong I have tried, I signed up to Aby’s 5 day productivity challenge in hope it would motivate me a little and, whilst I loved it and had the best intentions, I just didn’t have the time. I haven’t really got the energy or focus right now and I have definitely been questioning what I want from my blog.

However, here are a few little things that I have achieved over the last few months:

  • I have started to post on my Facebook page. Not often but I am making a little bit of effort on it which is a start (please feel free to give my page a little like!)
  • I am making more effort to interact on the Facebook group that I am a part of and I am quite enjoying being part of the community.
  • I am still interacting on Instagram – I actually love looking at Instagram in the morning and seeing what people are up to and having a little chatter, it has become a little morning routine! I don’t post as often, in fact, I’m not taking as many pictures as I used to but, for now, I am happy with where I am.
  • I have listed some posts that I plan to write and which linkys I will link up to – this is as organised as I get but I do like having a weekly idea of what I am doing.

So the next few months are going to be pretty busy and, apart from writing (hopefully), I guess I wont have much time for anything else. Although there are a few things I will try to keep on top of and think about in the forthcoming months:

  • Instagram – let’s face it, Christmas is the best time of the year and I will no doubt be taking lots of pictures overย the festive period and, of course, plenty of our new arrival!
  • My blog name – a few people have asked will I be changing it due to the fact I will have 3 children instead of 2. The answer is no – I feel that over the last 6 months I have started to become a little more established and starting again with a new name would be a bit of a step back. However, I have thought of maybe adding a strap line to incorporate my lovely new baby? Any suggestions are welcome?
  • Reading blogs – whilst time will be scarce I will definitely be keeping up with some of my favourite blogs and no doubt commenting at crazy hours in the morning!!!

I guess that is it. I’m determined to not put any pressure on myself at all. I want to enjoy my new baby and those early days as much as possible. For me, my blog is a hobby, one day hopefully it will be more but I do know it will always come second to my family. As much as I look with envy at successful high flying bloggers, I know that right now it is not my time and I actually couldn’t be happier.

  1. I love your closing sentiment. It’s something I am struggling with a lot at the moment – I know that now is not the right time for me either, but it’s so hard to remind yourself of that when you see others doing so well and dedicating so much time to it. It’s about the long game, and knowing what your priorities are right now and mine, like yours, are family #ABloggingGoodTime

  2. Great update and well done on getting on Facebook, I need to do some more on there (i’ll go find you) soon and Instagram is so fickle, my numbers go up and down like a yoyo! keep on going and I’m the same when I have time i’ll blog but if not then i don’t stress anymore. I have my favourite linkies and try to link when i can or have new posts. thanks for sharing #ablogginggoodtime

  3. Bravo to you! I absolutely loved when you said: โ€™m determined to not put any pressure on myself at all. I want to enjoy my new baby and those early days as much as possible.
Blogging to me should not be pressure! It would be lovely to be a high flying blogger but with children who need my support and working 3 days (in a new job) I just don’t have the time for all the extra promotion. I’m happy to plod along and enjoy my blog and I am glad that you are too. Great post! ? Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime ?

  4. Good for you. I didn’t take my blog seriously for a good few years and when I did, it was the right time and it’s now starting to become what I want it to be.

  5. Well done on making the leap to Facebook – it was a huge step for me, basically because it outed me to family and friends! I still find FB a slog, but it’s building ever so slowly. I feel the same as you with your closing paragraph – while I’d love my blog to be super successful, I know that it’s not my overriding priority right now, and I’m ok with that. Definitely enjoy your last few months as a family of four, and enjoy those newborn cuddles too. Thanks so much for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  6. I had never thought about your blog name before!! A tag line would be lovely, I’m sure you will find a way of including them but I agree your blog name is quite established. I can’t imagine changing my blog name to six little doves, haha!! Great goals, I need to take a leaf out of your book but I’m so disorganised and lack motivation! #TheList

  7. These sound like great goals and far more organised that I have every been or am likely to be! Like you, my blog is only a hobby and that’s the way I like it. My old one was in danger of becoming more than that and I stopped enjoying it. Definitely don’t put too much pressure on yourself before your new baby comes along. Make sure you enjoy time with all of you as a 4. x x

  8. I think its great not to keep up with everyone else, it isn’t a competition. Remember why you started it and do it as and when it suits you… #TheList

  9. I really need to set some blogging goals, I think this help me focus of things and not jump around!! I think adding a strap line for your new baby is a great idea to incorporate them into the blog. I will get my thinking cap on for you ๐Ÿ™‚ X #picknmix

  10. A really interesting post to read, I also find facebook hard work but I have only told a small handful of friends about it. Enjoy baby and blog when you can, my third is now 10 months and I am just getting back on my feet with the blog #picknmix

  11. Lovely little list of goals, I need to do the same I think, get some focused goals written down. As far as your blog name goes, I like the idea of adding something like ‘and baby makes three’ or ‘and baby too’ as a tagline. x #TheList

  12. The main thing with blogging is to enjoy it, don’t put pressure on yourself and just enjoy where it takes you. The community is a huge part of it for me as well ๐Ÿ™‚ As for social media, have you tried using something like buffer? With that you can set a few posts to go onto your twitter or facebook automatically at certain times, it’s such a time saver when I remember to set it going ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for linking up to #PicknMix lovely

  13. I love this, you have so much coming up that not adding unnecessary or too much pressure is so important. I love the idea of adding a strapline to incorporate the new baby – I can’t wait to see what it is xx #ablogginggoodtime

  14. I find that the blogs I enjoy the most are the authentic ones. Don’t force it and put yourself under undue pressure. It will happen! Oh and enjoy your new arrival ๐Ÿ™‚ #TheList

  15. Good luck with your goals! I keep trying to keep up, feel the pressure and step back a bit then try again. Definitely easier when things start to become a habit. Thanks for linking to #PickNMix
