A New Year

A New Year

Whilst January isn’t my favourite month ( I always find it a little bleak) I do love the idea of a fresh start, a clean slate. I love the optimism that January brings. I enjoy making a few little resolutions some aims for the year ahead. I was quite pleased with my 2016 goals and whilst I don’t take them too seriously it is nice to have some positive vibes for the year ahead.

So here goes:

  • To enjoy those newborn early days no matter how hard they will be and how tired I will be. To try and remember these hard early days don’t last forever.
  • To take care of myself – to give my body time to heal, to exercise, to eat better. To take the time to have a relaxing bath instead of the usual quick shower. To allow myself some me time even if just for 10 minutes a day.
  • To try to make some one on one time with Meme and Harri. I love those girls but I do know Meme misses having Mummy to herself and no doubt Harri will feel the same when the new baby arrives. I am not quite sure how, but I am determined to make some time for each child.
  • To plan something special for my lovely husbands birthday – it is not until the Summer but in 2016 we were a bit rubbish with spending time together so this year I want to make the effort. I am so lucky to have him.
  • To learn – I need to get my head around social media. I have no idea how Facebook or Pinterest work, I read numerous blog posts on them but still struggle to understand – this sounds crazy I know. I need to take the time to try and understand and to learn and to be the best I can be.
  • Lastly to get organised – with my blog, with my home with the school run. Although this one I have been trying to do for years!

So I think that is it…what do you think? Am I being over ambitious? Do you have any new year resolutions?

  1. Haha if you’re anything like me you’re probably being overly ambitious with getting organised! I think of this every year as a new year’s resolution but it never happens! Lovely that you’ve put in making time for yourself and allowing yourself to recover, that’s so important.

  2. Oh I so agree about the optimism that january beings although I’m not a massive january fan. Oh you’ve got such an exciting year and I really wish you all the best. Love your goals – I need to get a grip on pinterest too – kate at the less refined prose has just published a post on pinterest and doubling traffic – I need to focus on it and try and figure it all out! Happy 2017! #theordinarymoments

  3. Ah I remember those early days so well and you’ve just reminded me of learning how to juggle giving attention to two. It definitely does come and you’ll be fab at it. I definitely need to learnt to Pinterest better this year. With Facebook I find regular photos work really well x

  4. I’m the same as you not a fan of January, but the chance for a fresh start is great. Mine is definitely to be more organised and to keep our new home clean and tidy! I need to get into a better routine and make better use of my time during the week. You enjoy those newborn snuggles x #theordinarymoments

  5. I love that you are starting January with such a positive outlook, it’s so easy to just hide under the duvet. I’m with you on the social media and getting organised. Best of luck!

  6. I think these are great goals, realistic and achievable – as long as you slow down and focus on them! I look forward to seeing where 2017 takes you x

  7. These are great goals, and now your little one is here enjoy every minute with him and the girls. Time seems to be flying by at the moment and I just cannot believe how quick #TheOrdinaryMoments

  8. I think those are really manageable goals but I know that I have struggled keeping on top of everything in the house and online with the baby this year. Good luck with it all and congrats on your gorgeous baby boy. x

  9. I think that its a lovely list and not too overly ambitious…oh wait, if you master how to juggle the school run and make it easier then email me immediately!;)

  10. I definitely don’t think you’re being overly ambitious and the best part about these goals is that they’re truly flexible and up for reinterpretation at later dates. One day you might not be willing to commit to that bubble bath, so instead take a relaxing shower. And allowing yourself flexibility to know that in that instance you haven’t failed your previous version of you is okay! The fact that you have these goals is an incredible step forward in accountability and making sure they happen. Meme and Harri sound like they have a wonderful mom, and this goes for the new little one, too! Congrats!

  11. I love these goals – they seem realistic and achievable without putting too much pressure on yourself. I think they work really well as a prioritised list too – the important ones right at the top and the ones that can have a bit more flexibility towards the bottom. Family is always going to be more important than blogging, however much we enjoy it! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  12. I’m due my second baby in May and I am determined to enjoy those first few months as much as possible too. I know this will be our last and I really dont want to miss out on them. Since its my last pregnancy too I want to start feeling wel enough to enjoy and appreciate those kicks #KCACOLS

  13. Some great goals here! I too could do with learning a thing or two about SM, it couldn’t help to be a little more organised too!
It’s always important to make time for yourself especially with soon to be three children!
All the best for 2017 #KCACOLS

  14. it can be hard making one on one time with 3 children, but they do treasure it. I am glad you are prioritising taking care of yourself too! #mg
